Nursing Home Patient’s Homestead Burglarized

A Weatherford man and woman were arrested last week on charges that they burglarized the house of a woman in a nursing home, making off with books of checks and a rifle found by police during a traffic stop in May.

29-year old Brian Scott Trombly and 30-year-old Kelly Elizabeth Macedo were arrested last week.

The Weatherford Democrat says the two told police that an older woman who lived on Mikus Road had allowed the two to clean out a storage building on her property and sell the items.

However, when police contacted the woman’s daughter, she reportedly told them that the woman was in a nursing home and was not in good health, and the two did not have permission to be on the property.

Both suspects had several drug-related arrests in the past and, according to police, it is common for illegal drugs to be traded for stolen checks.
