Mineral Wells Police Led on Foot Pursuit After Escape

A man arrested on drug possession charges led Mineral Wells police on a foot pursuit after he reportedly escaped from custody.

An officer stopped a suspicious person July 24 in the 100 block of North Oak Avenue looking into a closed window…eventually, a meth pipe was found on the man along with plastic baggies. 22-year-old Shawn Steve Goodrum was placed into the back of the officer’s squad car, but the officer failed to lock the door, and Goodrum opened the door and took off running. The Mineral Wells Index says the officer chased the man on foot, and eventually found him hiding underneath a car. Goodrum was taken to the Palo Pinto County Jail.
