Man arrested after shooting at police

A man reportedly injured during a Jan. 14 shootout with police officers during and after a vehicle pursuit through Parker County has been jailed.

33-year-old Derek Kyle Auvenshine of Azle was booked into the Parker County Jail on warrants Sept. 9 after being indicted in February on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Weatherford Democrat says police say Auvenshine twice exchanged fire with a White Settlement police officer during a Jan. 14 pursuit that began they attempted to serve a parole warrant.

Auvenshine reportedly underwent surgery at John Peter Smith Hospital for unspecified injuries.

Bond was set at $450,000 on the three charges, according to jail records, which showed that Auvenshine remained in the Parker County Jail Tuesday afternoon.
