A man with previous domestic violence charges was arrested by Palo Pinto County law enforcement recently for allegedly choking his girlfriend and trying to prevent her from calling for help.
The Mineral Wells Index says a 911 call was received during the early morning hours last Friday from a female who told the dispatcher she needed help but could not talk, according to information released by the PPCSO. The woman laid down the phone, leaving the line open.
The dispatcher sent sheriff’s department deputies and Palo Pinto County Pct. 3 Constable Mike Santifer to an area on the west side of Possum Kingdom Lake where the dispatcher determined the call was coming from.
Deputies and Santifer located the residence on Retreat Road. The woman reportedly ran from the house as officers pulled onto the property. A report said the woman had visible injuries.
Arrested at the scene was Timothy Doyle Milligan, 36, who was charged with family violence assault-impeding breathing and interfering with an emergency phone call. Officers said when the woman tried calling 911 the first time, Milligan took and destroyed the phone.
Officials then learned Milligan was wanted on warrants issued by the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama on charges of failure to appear on a charge of domestic violence-strangulation; failure to appear for possessing/selling a precursor; two counts of failure to appear for domestic violence assault in the third degree; and contempt of court.
