A scam recently reported in Parker County has apparently found its way into Palo Pinto County.
County Judge David Nicklas told the Mineral Wells Index said someone is calling local residents claiming to represent the county. The caller says they have been summoned for jury duty, but the caller can “take care of” that jury summons with a fee…and, of course, he takes credit cards over the phone.
Last month in Parker County, Sheriff Larry Fowler warned the public about the same scam. Anyone who receives such a call is encouraged to call local law enforcement and report it, or if they have any questions about a jury summons or similar notice they can contact the Palo Pinto County Courthouse at 940-659-1253.
