Aledo home burned to the ground Tuesday

A 2,000-square-foot rental house at 217 Rancho Trail in the Aledo area burned to the ground Tuesday in a fire that began around 2:30 a.m. and wasn’t completely extinguished until seven hours later. The house’s tenant was not at home, according to the Weatherford Democrat.

Interim Parker County Fire Marshal George Teague said a motorist driving down Mesa Grande Drive reported the fire but couldn’t pinpoint the source because the house is located in a valley with a lot of mature trees.

Teague said Aledo, which was at the scene in about five minutes, was joined by Silver Creek, White Settlement, Benbrook, Weatherford and Hudson Oaks fire departments about 10 minutes later. The cause of the fire, which appears to have begun in the den/living room in the southern end of the house, Teague said, is as yet undetermined.
