Texas State Representative Phil King will visit the Decatur Air Evac Lifeteam base at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13. The base, which recently relocated to 609 Medical Center Drive, Suite 500 in Decatur, is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. The base will serve refreshments, and visitors will have the opportunity to meet the crew, tour the base and aircraft, and learn about Air Evac Lifeteam the nation’s largest independently owned and operated air medical service provider.
The Decatur Air Evac base is located on the campus of Wise Regional Hospital. Lisa Ponce, program director for the Air Evac base, said the base recently moved 500 yards, and is now located just off the Emergency Room entrance.
“Wise Regional continues to grow, and we moved our crew quarters to help them and to remain available to the hospital and the community,” Ponce said. Air Evac Lifeteam, an air medical service, provides rapid access to definitive health care for those who live in medically underserved areas. Flight crews, consisting of a pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic, are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to the scene of an emergency, or provide transportation between medical facilities. Air Evac Lifeteam currently operates 115 bases in 15 states.
