A Parker County teenager has been indicted on hit and run charges in the accident that killed a local woman in the Hudson Oaks Wal-Mart parking lot.
The Parker County Grand Jury returned an indictment for Accident Involving Personal Injury or Death on Morgan Lopatesky on Thursday. That offense is a second degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine in situations in which a death was caused in the accident. The indictment stems from the August 11, 2014 accident that took the life of 58-year-old Marla Carroll of Poolville.
Lopatesky was 16 at the time of the alleged offense on but is 17 now. According to testimony at the hearing, Lopatesky drove away from the scene of the accident without stopping, but did return about two hours later with her mother. Upon her return, the Hudson Oaks PD Detective that interviewed her did not notice any odor of alcohol on Lopatesky or any signs of intoxication, according to his testimony at the hearing. Her blood alcohol, taken some hours later, was 0.00.
