Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Mineral Wells men this month in connection with burglaries in Palo Pinto, Parker, Eastland and Erath counties.
47-year-old Michael Shawn Higgins of Mineral Wells, was arrested on six felony warrants from Ranger Police Department in Eastland County and on charges of possession of methamphetamine and four counts of burglary of a building in Palo Pinto County.
34-year-old Benjamin Lee Salter of Mineral Wells, was arrested on four counts of burglary of a building and possession of methamphetamine. Authorities believe the men are responsible for several storage unit burglaries, as well as other burglaries, in four counties over the course of about five months.
A sheriff’s office investigation led to a search of a storage unit in Mineral Wells that yielded multiple items stolen from past burglaries. Investigations into the burglaries resulted from information received by both the sheriff’s office and the City County Narcotics Unit.
Higgins was arrested in August 2011 for attempting to sell stolen handguns to undercover officers. Investigators later discovered large amounts of stolen property in Higgins’ Mineral Wells home and in a storage unit on U.S. Highway 180, according to reports.
