Parker County Sheriff’s Extradition and Courts Unit has grown over the last several years, and Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler anticipates continued growth within the division. In an S.O. Office media release, Fowler said the unit has gone from 305 out-of-county extraditions in 2008 to nearly 400 this past year.
The expansion to the Parker County Jail in late 2008, eliminated the need for the majority of out-of-county inmate housing contracts, but not the need for extradition, leaving the unit solely responsible for extraditing inmates from around the state and country.
The unit is made up of three deputies, who drove more than 89,000 miles extraditing inmates since Jan. 1, 2014.
