K-9 officer remembered in Wise County

Hundreds of law enforcement officers, including dozens of K-9 officers, filled Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise earlier this week for a memorial service for Wise County Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy Pepper, who was shot and killed during a search for an armed suspect Jan. 28 near Sunset. Pepper’s partner and handler described how his K-9 partner did exactly as he had been trained, shielding the bullets from him and four other officers. The Wise County Messenger says Sheriff David Walker also recognized the five officers and read a proclamation from Gov. Greg Abbott.
