An employee of a local department store was stabbed yesterday, and Weatherford police are trying to figure out why.
It happened at about 3:30 p.m. at the Ross store off I-20. A loss prevention officer was taking a break outside when a suspect walked up and struck up a conversation. Then, unprovoked, the man, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The victim says the suspect tried to cut his throat, but the victim blocked the attack—suffering a cut in his arm and part of his neck in the process.
The suspect got away on foot…the employee was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Later a man matching the description of the suspect was picked up walking near Weatherford College. Police yesterday were trying to determine if man picked up and the stabbing suspect are one in the same.
