Two men die in ice-related accidents

Two men lost their lives in seperate Parker County accidents over the weekend, both involving icy conditions.

At about 9:10 Friday morning, DPS Troopers investigated a two-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 20 near the Brock Exit. A Ford F150 was traveling west at an unsafe speed for the icy road conditions. The driver of the Ford, 20-year-old Nicolas Victor Garcia of North Richland Hills, lost control of the vehicle and traveled through the center median into oncoming east bound traffic. The Ford struck a Volvo that was towing a tanker style trailer head-on. The driver of the Volvo was not injured.

 

On Saturday night, a Mineral Wells man lost his life when his car crashed into a creek.

At about 9:15 PM DPS Troopers investigated the one-vehicle crash on US 180 near Newberry Road. A Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on US 180 at an unsafe speed, again because of the ice. The Chevrolet hit a guardrail, vaulted, then struck a pipe fence and came to rest in a creek. The driver of the Chevrolet, 55-year-old James Edward Jackson, was pronounced deceased by the medical examiner at the scene.
