Crash involving church van kills two in Palo Pinto County

At approximately 5:25 pm Friday night, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers were notified of a two vehicle crash on TX 337 north of US 180 in Palo Pinto County. A white 2010 Mitsubishi passenger car was traveling north on TX 337. A white 1999 Chevrolet passenger van was traveling south. For an as yet undetermined reason, the vehicles collided head-on.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 34-year-old Jessica Lee Harris of Graham, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second victim, 40-year-old Stacey Daily of Graham, died later from her injures.

The Chevrolet van was occupied by seven members of the Faith Center Assembly of God church from Graham. The driver of the van, 49-year-old Kenny Weimer of Graham, was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital and subsequently flown by air ambulance to JPS hospital in Fort Worth. The ages of the other occupants are 31, 15, 15, 14 and 11. Three occupants of the van were flown to area hospital’s from the scene. One occupant of the van was flown to Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth and two additional occupants were transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells by ground ambulance. One of those occupants has since been discharged.

All occupants in the van were wearing seatbelts. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
