Bridgeport, Brock, Graford make state boys tourney

Three local boys basketball teams are heading to San Antonio for the state tournament after winning their respective regional championships this weekend.

Bridgeport beat Abilene Wylie 62-48 to qualify for the Class 4A state tournament. Devonte Patterson led the Bulls with 26 points. Bridgeport will face Dallas Madison in the semifinal at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. 

In Class 3A, Brock’s Lance Ewell led the Eagles with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and the Eagles beat Van Alstyne 67-55 to qualify for its third state tournament in four years. Brock will take on Kountze in the state semifinal–tip-off is at 1:30 Thursday.

Graford got a dramatic bucket at the buzzer from Hayden Farquhar, beating Throckmorton 63-61 to advance to Class A state semifinal. The Jackrabbits will face Texline Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
