A man is in custory for robbing an Azle grocery store at gunpoint.
The Azle Police Department says 52-year-old John Polk of Ponder is accused of walking into the Brookshire’s store on N. Stewart Street Tuesday night at about 10 o’clock, entering an office area and demanding cash from the manager. Polk allegedly fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash, where he was met by Azle police officers who had been called by Brookshire’s employees. He was taken into custody and the money was recovered along with two handguns in his possession. Polk suffered a minor injury to his forehead during the arrest, and received treatment at the scene from Azle firefighters. Polk is facing a second degree felony charge of robbery.
