A Parker County grand jury has indicted a man accused of punching an 8-year-old girl who attempted to intervene as the man struck his wife.
32-year-old Zachary Cole Dalrymple was indicted on a charge of injury to a child – reckless bodily injury.
The incident happened on Elmwood Street near Azle on February 17. Dalrymple’s wife told deputies that he punched her in the face with his fist multiple times and struck her daughter.
The girl told a deputy that Dalrymple was hitting her mother and she wanted to protect her, so she jumped between them.
The 8-year-old said Dalrymple then punched her in the stomach.
Dalrymple declined to talk to officers at the scene.
