Officials are trying to find out why a 25-year-old man was found dying in the middle of a Weatherford street.
An autopsy report released this week by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office details numerous injuries to the body of 25-year-old Charles Alvarez Jr., who died Feb. 7, due to internal bleeding hours after he was found lying in the middle of a Weatherford street and arrested.
According to the Weatherford Democrat, Alvarez’ death was officially caused by gastrointestinal hemorraging, but the manner of his death is still unknown.
Alvarez’s family members believe he was invited to an apartment and assaulted before police found the man.
Injuries to Alvarez included hemorrhaging of his large intestine and other abdominal organs, bruises to his face, head, chest, abdomen, back, arms, hands and legs, a small skull fracture behind his nose, a black eye, and abrasions on his chest and other areas, according to the autopsy report.
He was found at 3:34 in the morning February 7th in the 100 block of North Denton Street.
He was arrested for public intoxication and taken to the Parker County Jail, but officials there decided to take him to Weatherford Regional Medical Center. He was transferred to Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, where he was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m.
Family members believe Alvarez was beaten by the people he was with early that morning.
