A man escaped from the Hood County Jail early yesterday morning, and was apprehended later in the day.
34-year-old Cody Wayne Bedford was not in his cell when jailers made a routine bed check–they believe he escaped by getting into a ceiling vent, then breaking out onto the roof and fleeing on foot before sunrise.
A homeowner called police to report a suspicious person walking on a property on Colony Road in Granbury. Authorities arrived and arrested Bedford at about 11:15 a.m.
Bedford was arrested last year after another manhunt: his vehicle struck two police vehicles at the end of a pursuit and he then fled on foot–he was apprehended later in the day
The Texas Rangers and U.S. Marshals assisted in yesterday’s search.
