Conditions improve at Horseshoe Bend

Things are starting to improve on the Brazos River in the Horseshoe Bend area of southern Parker County.

The Brazos River rose to nearly 23 feet yesterday, about two feet above the flood stage.

One man and his dogs had to be rescued Wednesday and eight people stayed in a shelter at the Weatherford Ninth Grade Center.

The flooding of Horseshoe Bend was well below the 27 feet in the last major flood of 2007 and far less than the record of 31 feet in 1981.
