A DPS trooper’s traffic stop early Friday morning on Interstate 20 resulted in a seizure of over 500 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of over $3,000,000.
Just after midnight, a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop, for a traffic violation, on a 2014 Ford U-Haul box truck traveling east on IH-20, west of Weatherford.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Patrick Henry Johnson, 31, of Dallas. During the traffic stop, Johnson was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant. The trooper also smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
During a search of the U-Haul, the trooper discovered over 500 pounds of marijuana inside the cargo area of the box truck.
Johnson was taken to the Parker County jail where he was charged with the outstanding warrant and possession of marijuana over fifty pounds but less than two thousand pounds, a second degree felony offense. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported to the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area.
