Suspect shot in standoff

A police standoff in Reno ended last night when the suspect was shot as he ran out of the house pointing a rifle at officers.

It started when neighbors called as shots were being fired from a home. 32-year-old Ronnie Lee Padron had barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to come out. Padron had an active warrant for his arrest and would not surrender. The Weatherford/Parker County Special Operations Group was called to the scene.

On at least two separate occasions, Padron fired a weapon from the house. After officers fired tear gas into the house, Padron exited the rear of the residence with, what appeared to be, a long barreled rifle, pointing it at officers as he advanced on them. Officers fired on Padron…he was rushed to a Metroplex hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 10:30 last night. The Texas Rangers were notified to conduct an investigation.
