Britton earns save in All-Star Game

Weatherford High School graduate Zach Britton shut down the National League in the bottom of the ninth inning of the All-Star Game Tuesday night, earning the save in the American League’s 4-2 win in San Diego.

The Orioles closer gave up a hit to Daniel Murphy, the first NL batter in the bottom of the ninth. But then Britton induced two ground balls to finish the inning, including a double play off the bat of Nolen Arenado on a 97-mile-per-hour sinker.

Britton converted all 27 save attempts during the first half of the season for Baltimore.
