Perrin woman killed in hydroplaning accident

At approximately 9:10 a. m. on August 18, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on Texas 16 about half a mile north of Texas 337. A 2007 Ford Taurus was traveling north on Texas 16 at a speed that was unsafe for the rainy conditions. The Taurus hydroplaned and left the roadway hitting a sign before striking a concrete culvert and coming to rest. The driver of the Taurus, Teryia Kendell Sims, 42, of Perrin, was transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital by ground ambulance. Sims succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased at 12:08 p.m.
