Plane crash in Mineral Wells

At approximately 7:21 p. m. Wednesday night, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers were notified of a downed aircraft approximately 1/4 mile northwest of the Mineral Wells Municipal Airport. A twin engine Piper aircraft was on approach to the Mineral Wells airport when, for an as yet undetermined reason, the aircraft lost power and went down in a field, coming to rest on the shoulder of MH 379. The pilot and one passenger sustained undisclosed injuries and were flown to John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth by air ambulances. A second passenger was not injured. The Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting an investigation into the crash.
