WISD considers concealed carry, other measures

The Weatherford ISD Board of Trustees is responding to the national call for increased school security.

The board released a statement Tuesday, saying that beyond the security measures funded in the 2015 bond, they are considering several additional safety enhancements, including a concealed carry program, which they’ve been investigating since July of 2017. Also on the table are a student ID program, adding additional school resource officers, adding crisis intervention counselors and equipping each classroom with locked safes for safety vests, pepper spray and trauma kits.
